The ACE Group Classic is accepting volunteers for the 2008 tournament, which is Feb. 11-17 at Quail West in North Naples. Volunteer applications can be found on the tournament's Web site, www.acegroupclassic.com. Early applications are welcome. Golf knowledge is not required. Families and friends are encouraged to participate. "The experience of seeing the game of golf from inside the ropes is amazing,'' tournament director Jason Camp said in a press release. "The ACE Group Classic volunteer experience puts golf's legends by your side and allows the community to get an insider's take on a golf tournament.'' The volunteer package is $70 and includes a volunteer golf shirt, Antigua outerwear, unisex visor or hat, a volunteer credential valid for admission throughout tournament week, lunch and parking on scheduled work days, and an invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party.

Beef fundraiser for Club for Boys
RAPID CITY -- The South Dakota Stockgrowers Association is sponsoring a Beef for Boys night to raise funds for The Club for Boys education program. Hammond's going Wi-Fi
"Welcome to Hammond, a wireless community. Stop in, have lunch, shop and check your e-mail."One day soon, this message will rotate with other advertisements on billboards to bring tourists and other visitors off the interstates and into Hammond.It's an initiative bring launched by the Hammond Chamber of Commerce with target users being visitors and casual users, said Mike Asoodeh, assistant vice president for technology at Southeastern Louisiana University and technical consultant on the project."It's about commerce, visitors and getting people to leave the interstate," he said. "It's about convenience and free internet access for visitors, people in the park and around the mall, Zemurray Park, Lee's Drive Inn, City Hall."The objective is not to replace internet providers like X-fone, Charter and Bell South, Assodeh said.
Unilever leads FTSE into positive territory
Strong first half results from Unilever and Barclays helped steer the London market into positive territory today. The FTSE 100 Index rose 38.3 points to 6288.9, buoyed by a strong late rally from US markets overnight. Investors on Wall Street cast aside their current concerns over a crunch in credit markets to pick up recently battered shares at their lows. Dove and Hellmann's mayonnaise maker Unilever was the best performing blue chip stock with a gain of more than 5%, or 83p to 1587p, after it posted a forecast beating 5.8% rise in underlying sales during the first half of the year. It further cheered investors after it said it expected the strong growth to continue for the remainder of the year. The banking sector was also on the front foot as Barclays became the latest of the high street banks to please investors with strong first half profits growth.
